Kia ora. I am Eduardo Canha, a Brazilian born designer based in Aotearoa New Zealand.  Curiosity has always been there and it still leads me. I listen first, ask clear questions, and shape brands and websites that read with ease. 

I did not arrive at design through drawing. I arrived the day an idea on a screen became form and I felt the click of it. I studied, I practised, and I kept a camera close. From 2012 to 2015 I lived in Europe and worked as a graphic designer in Cambridge in the United Kingdom. When I could, I travelled with a notebook and a lens. I stood under the northern lights in Iceland. I watched the sun fall from the top of the Eiffel Tower. I rode past tulip fields in Lisse. Later, here in Aotearoa, I spent long hours in a kayak on the Abel Tasman coast. I also photographed a season of the Mitsubishi rally and learned timing, patience, and how to frame motion. Travel and photography taught me to slow down, notice the line that guides you, and let the rest go.

Since 2015 Aotearoa has been home. I am married to a psychologist and I am a dad to a four year old. Yoga, meditation, and long walks keep my pace steady. I like simple days, good light, and quiet places. I see design in small and quiet things. Leaves shining after rain. A rainbow that hangs over the hills for a moment longer than you expect. Evening colour on a beach when the tide draws a clean line in the sand. That is the tone I try to bring to amy work so reading feels easy and the next step is clear.

My process is plainI listen first, ask clear questions, and turn that into work people can trust and use. People who work with me describe me as reliable, flexible, and calm under pressure. I enjoy turning a messy brief into something you can trust. Sometimes that is a brand identity with an editorial calm. Sometimes it is a website with simple flows. Always it is about understanding and the people on the other side of the screen.
